Calibrating my battery will help preserve battery life

From iPhone.click2creation.com

‘Calibrating my battery will help preserve battery life.’

As you leave the house, you check your phone and see that you have 4 hours of battery life remaining—but 3 hours later, you run out of juice. If this has happened to you, your iPhone or iPad might need a battery calibration. Apple recommends that you periodically drain your iPhone or iPad’s battery completely and then charge it until it’s completely full. This process, called calibration, helps your device estimate its remaining battery life more accurately. Calibrating your battery will ensure that you know when to charge your battery, but it doesn’t make your battery last longer.

When used well, your iPad is a powerful tool that can make you rethink how you do things in life. The secret to success, however, rests mainly in the time and attention you invest in learning the intricacies of the device. Read these tips to use your iPad to full advantage. It is a great device that can be even greater.

You can access a remote server using a VPN. In order to connect to a VPN network through your iPad, navigate to Settings and select the Network tab. Then, select the VPN feature. Before establishing a VPN connection, you will need to provide credentials such as a username or server address. If you don’t have the server address, contact the network administrator.

Are you frustrated with your iPad because it wants you to join every wifi network it detects? Just turn the notifications off! If you don’t want further prompts, turn off the last option found on the page.

Is that app you just launched making too much noise? Mute the volume quick by pressing and then holding your volume down button. Do this until you can’t hear anything. If you need to mute often, you can set your lock button to mute, too.

If you are concerned about someone seeing private information on your phone, you may set a password to erase the data after several failed attempts. This feature erases everything recorded on your phone after someone has tried and failed 10 times.

If you are a person that needs to have a manual with whatever you buy, you need to download the iPad’s one should you need it. Apple changed to a downloadable version to stay green.

By using shortcuts, sending messages is easy. For instance, a period and space are added when you tap the space bar two times while typing a sentence. This can be a useful way of speeding up your messaging.

Are you annoyed by the battery charge display? Turn it off, then! Start out in the Settings menu. Go to General, then Usage. This allows you to turn off the battery percentage notifications.

It’s now possible to quickly mute the iPad. Originally, you couldn’t do this with a button. Prior to iOS 4.3 you had to use the lock switch to mute the sound or lock your iPad’s orientation. Now all you have to do is press the volume-down key and hold it for a few seconds.

If you often use the Internet, don’t forget the cloud functions your iPad offers. In this way, you can store information and save iPad hard drive space. Make sure your important documents are backed up on your device and the cloud.

Copying and pasting text the iPad is simple. Select the text you wish to copy after tapping the screen. Tap once more after the text appears in yellow highlight. Then select Copy. To paste, hold your finger where you’d like the text pasted and, when the menu appears, choose “paste.”

Auto-brightness can help you keep your battery charged. The iPad automatically senses the amount of light that is in the room, and it will adjust its lighting to the best amount. This is a great way to control the amount of battery being used with screen brightness, extending your iPad sessions without plugging in. This setting can be located in the section labeled “Brightness & Wallpaper”.

Are you aware of the fact that you don’t need to use the iPad keyboard? If you’re like many people, typing on a tiny keyboard is hard on your eyes and inefficient for your fingers. You can buy a Bluetooth keyboard and then use it with the iPad, easily. You will feel more like you’re using a laptop and be able to type more efficiently with the external keyboard.

Do you ever have the urge to snap a quick screenshot of your display? It is far simpler than you may have imagined. Tap Home and then tap Sleep/Wake. This will cause a flash, indicating that your picture has been taken. Every screen shot saves automatically, so you need not worry about then saving them.

Double tap the word you’d like to copy, it’s as simple as that! You can also copy an entire paragraph at once. Tap the text four times, you will copy the whole paragraph. This doesn’t just work for paragraphs, it works for the URL bar as well as addresses.

iPads are truly incredible. Learn all that you can to make the most of iPad in your daily life. You can maximize the potential of your iPad now that you have read this article.

iOS 7 Little Things: New Symbol Indicates Automatically Downloaded Apps

iOS 7 Little Things: New Symbol Indicates Automatically Downloaded Apps

Here’s a little detail in iOS 7 that I hadn’t noticed or read about before. There’s a new symbol used on app icons to indicate apps that have arrived on the iPad via automatic downloads. There’s now a little blue dot just to the left of the app’s title text to show that it’s one that was added via an automatic download.

Automatic Downloads is a feature that you can toggle on or off in Settings. When it is turned on all of your new purchase (including free app installs) on any of your other devices with your iTunes account setup will automatically download to the iPad. So, for instance, I recently installed all of the apps shown in the screenshot above on my iPad mini. I have Automatic Downloads enabled on my iPad 3 which is running the current iOS 7 beta 2 – so each of these apps has been added automatically to the iPad 3, and has the little blue dot next to its name.

I also notice that apps that are newly installed no longer have a ‘New’ badge across their app icon in iOS 7.

These are very minor little tweaks, and they may not last through the betas and into the final release of iOS 7 – but I’d say the blue dot for automatically downloaded apps is a helpful addition. In my case, it served to remind me that I had the Automatic Downloads feature enabled.

Many people know their iPads have an iTune store, but are not aware of all its features. One interesting function is iTunes U. The U stands for university. This feature includes some great educational podcasts.

If you sync with iTunes, you can share documents with a desktop or laptop computer. Sharing the documents you have isn’t that big of a deal anymore because there’s the ability for iTunes to work with any platform. Things become even easier as you are able to email your PDF’s across the Internet and download them on a remote system.

If your child will be using your iPad and you don’t want them seeing mature content, you can change your settings so these items become blocked. Access the settings and set limits on the availability of mature content. You can restrict mature content, including anything that has nudity or bad language.

TIP! Set up FaceTime with your phone numbers and emails. The iPad, by default, includes the initial email you used for installation, but it is possible to add others.

Reduce the brightness of your screen in order to increase the battery life of your iPad. This is very useful if you are out and waiting for an important email. To decrease your screen’s brightness, double tap the Home icon and look for the icon that looks like a sun.

You can manage the notifications that come through on your iPad. If you use lots of apps, it is likely that you’ll have to deal with lots of alerts and pop-ups. You can control these under Settings, and Notifications. This allows you to disable alerts from apps where instant notification isn’t necessary. That helps you when you want to get alerted from something important.

The cloud function is great to use if you love to play around on the internet. It keeps your content off the hard drive, leaving you space. It is important that you back up your most important documents by storing them on both your iPad device and cloud.

TIP! Most people use iTunes, but many are overlooking some great features. One great feature is iTunes U.

Is the iPad default search engine leaving you dissatisfied? You are able to switch it with something else. Click on Settings, then Safari and finally Search Engine. Pick which search engine you desire. You’ll get the option of choosing between Bing, Yahoo, and Google.

TIP! Street View is available on the iPad’s Google Maps app. Complete a search on the map and you will see a red pin appear.

PDFs can be put on the iPad through two methods. Your PDF can either be inputted into iTunes and synced with your iPad, or you can just email the documents to yourself. Try to figure out the best way that you can access this and that you are comfortable with.

Have you recently noticed a problem with slow screen transitions or sluggish app load times? Is your iPad still slow, even though you have deleted everything that you are no longer using? One way to free up even more space is to use Apple’s cloud storage service to store your data. This should free enough space for your apps to run properly.

Are you having problems with a scratches screen? The iPad’s screen is resistant to damage, however, if you are starting to notice little scratches, it is time to apply a screen protector. This will help protect your iPad from serious damage in case you drop it, and it also prevents your fingers from making tiny cuts.

TIP! Is your iPad getting a little slow? Have you gone through all of the information and data you have stored on your machine and deleted all that you aren’t using anymore, but your iPad is still slow? If so, then your next step might need to be sending all of your pictures and music to the cloud. This final choice is almost always the solution that iPad users needed for a better running iPad.

Entire Paragraph

To copy text on your iPad is simple; you just need to double click any keyword. That being said, it’s difficult to copy an entire paragraph if you use this method. Tap the chosen text four times which will copy the entire paragraph. This works for paragraphs, addresses as well as the URL bar.

Backing up your iPad is a very important task. It’s also a good idea to set your iPad up so it erases all stored data if a break-in attempt is made. Look for Password Lock in the Settings menu, and have it set to erase all data when your password is entered incorrectly 10 times.

Always turn on Find My iPad in case you lose yours. This will inform you as to where your missing iPad is currently located and allows you the opportunity to delete any personal information without being near the device. This may require setup, but is very beneficial to save your device.

From homework to videoconferencing, the iPad does it all. It just requires you know how to use the iPad, so use the advice in this article and get ready to use it. Use the tips you just read and spend some time exploring the different features of your iPad.

When you are browsing with Safari, the top of the title window can be clicked to go to the beginning of any page. While scrolling is possible, it is time consuming. Just tap the title bar instead, and you can get around more rapidly.

TIP! Apple TV owners can stream content directly from the iPad. On your iPad you will see the Airplay icon.

iPad App Problem: App Store Badge Shows Updates Needed But It Won’t Work

iPad App Problem: App Store Badge Shows Updates Needed But It Won’t Work

A reader named Tammy wrote to me yesterday about iPad app updates not working properly. The App Store badge shows app updates are needed but nothing happens when the update button is tapped. Tammy is not alone. A bit of research on the web shows others are also having trouble with app update notices. Apple will probably address this glitch soon. Meanwhile here’s a suggested fix.

1. Go to the App Store 2. Tap Purchased 3. Tap All 4. Find the Apps showing an update is needed 5. Tap theUpdate button on the App

Shut down and restart your iPad. This should update the Apps and fix the update count in App Store.
